Only 5% of Canadians aged 12 and older say they like fully AI-generated music, while 65% dislike it and 29% are neutral, according to Signal Hill Insights’ Audio on the Move 2026 research.

Signal Hill surveyed a nationally representative panel of 6,161 Canadians. The question explicitly described content created from start to finish by AI and did not include music that merely used AI for editing, effects, research or another limited production task.

Teenagers were less negative but still did not show majority acceptance. Among respondents aged 12 to 17, 13% liked fully AI-generated music, 50% disliked it and 37% were neutral.

Why it matters: The distinction between fully generated and AI-assisted music is commercially important. Artists should describe what AI actually did instead of relying on a vague label, because listener resistance to an entirely generated track does not necessarily measure attitudes toward AI-assisted mastering, vocal processing or editing.
