Music Technology UK has appointed ClicknClear founder Chantal Epp and SoundPatrol Chief Revenue Officer Will Hughes to its board, strengthening the trade organization’s expertise in music licensing and AI copyright detection.
ClicknClear provides music licensing and compliance tools for sports and performing arts and has licensing relationships with Universal, Sony and Warner.
SoundPatrol develops technology that identifies copied and AI-reworked music. The company has announced partnerships with major rightsholders and introduced an AI takedown agent in September.
Why it matters: Rights management is becoming a core part of music technology—not a separate legal function added after a product launches.
For AI music companies and creators, the direction is clear: licensing records, provenance, detection, permissions and dispute processes will increasingly shape whether music can be distributed and monetized.
