Source: The AI Musicpreneur — Olivia Rodrigo “Expectations” Video AI Claims
After viewers interpreted inconsistent hands and limbs as signs of generative AI, members of the “Expectations” video team released behind-the-scenes material showing hand-drawn characters, 2D and 3D animation and footage played on analog-style screens.
Designer Jack Harrison and Livies HQ, Rodrigo’s official fan account, posted drafts and production footage. Rolling Stone reported that the team displayed animation on a Windows Vista computer and filmed the screen with a high-resolution camera to create its retro texture.
Rodrigo has not personally addressed the accusations, and the process posts do not constitute an independent technical audit. They nevertheless provide direct evidence of a conventional drawing-and-animation workflow behind the disputed sequence.
Do unusual hands prove that a music video used AI? No. Visual mistakes and stylized animation can produce similar artifacts. Credits, source files and documented process provide stronger evidence than appearance alone.
