Frequently Asked Questions
Plain-English answers for getting started, adding music, building fans, and fixing common issues.
Getting Started
1. What is VerseCove?
VerseCove is a music discovery site where artists can create a public profile, list songs, and make it easier for fans, listeners, and podcasters to find them. Start by creating a free account on the Create Account page.
2. Do I sign up as a fan or as an artist?
Everyone starts as a fan. You do not need to choose a role when you sign up. When you upload your first song, your artist status turns on automatically. You can still follow and support other artists after you become an artist.
3. Where do I go after I create an account?
After you log in, go to your Member Dashboard. From there you can add music, update your artist profile, upload an artist image, view fans, and see your favorite artists.
Artist Profile
4. How do I set up my artist profile?
Log in and open Your Artist Profile. Add your artist name and a short description that tells people what makes your music worth hearing.
5. How do I upload or change my artist image?
Use the Your Artist Image page in your dashboard. Use a clear square or portrait image that represents you, your band, or your music brand.
6. Why does my artist profile not show in the Artist Directory?
The public Artist Directory only shows artist accounts that meet the directory rules. Make sure you have uploaded music and completed your artist profile. Some visibility features also depend on your current plan.
7. What are profile views?
Profile views show how many times your public artist profile has been opened. You can see this on your artist profile next to songs, genres, and fans.
Submitting Music
8. How do I submit music?
Log in, then go to Add Your Music. Add your song title, artist name, genre, artwork, and links such as Suno, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, or other supported platforms.
9. Why is my song pending?
New submissions may need review before they become active. Pending songs appear in your Pending Music section. Once approved, they move to Active Music and can appear on public pages.
10. Can I hide a song from my public profile?
Yes. Open Your Music and use the Hide From Profile button on an active song. Hidden songs move to the Hidden By Artist section and stop showing on your public artist profile.
11. How many songs can I add?
Song limits depend on your plan. Your dashboard shows how many songs you have submitted and whether you can add more. You can compare plan benefits on the Pricing page.
12. What image types and sizes should I upload?
Use JPG, PNG, or WEBP images. If the file is already 90 KB or smaller, VerseCove saves it as is. Only if the file is larger than 90 KB does VerseCove start resizing it in 50 pixel steps from 500 by 500 down to 300 by 300, checking the file size after each resize. If the resized file is under 90 KB, VerseCove stops and saves it. If not, it keeps resizing and checking again. Do not upload executable files or images that copy another artist, brand, or album artwork.
AI, Non-AI, And Rights
13. Can I submit AI-generated music?
Yes. AI-generated music is allowed if you have the right to use and promote it. You are responsible for following the rules of the AI tool you used and for making sure the music does not copy someone else.
14. Can I submit non-AI music?
Yes. VerseCove can support human-made music too. The important rule is that you must own the rights or have permission to submit and promote the music.
15. What is hybrid AI music?
Hybrid AI music combines human creativity with AI tools. For example, you might write lyrics, sing vocals, play instruments, edit production, or arrange a song while using AI for part of the process.
16. Do I keep ownership of my music?
Yes. Listing music on VerseCove does not transfer ownership. By submitting, you allow the site to display and promote your music under the site terms. Read the Terms of Service for the full rules.
17. Can I upload music that sounds like a famous artist?
Do not submit music, images, names, or branding that could mislead people or copy a protected artist, voice, logo, song, album, or public identity. This protects you, the platform, and listeners.
Fans And Discovery
18. How do fans follow artists?
Fans can open a public artist profile and click Become A Fan. They must be logged in and verified. You can discover artists in the Artist Directory and All Music pages.
19. Can artists become fans of other artists?
Yes. Artists are also fans. You can promote your own music and still follow artists you like.
20. Why can I not become a fan of myself?
VerseCove blocks self-following so fan counts stay meaningful. If you are viewing your own profile, the fan button may be disabled or show a message explaining that it is your profile.
21. Where do I see my fans and favorite artists?
Artists can see fans on Your Fans. Fans can see artists they follow on Your Favorite Artists.
Troubleshooting
22. Why can I not upload music?
Make sure you are logged in, your account is verified, required fields are complete, and you have not reached your song limit. If you reached your limit, review your options on the Pricing page.
23. Why can I not upload my artist image?
Use a JPG, PNG, or WEBP image. If the file is already 90 KB or smaller, it will be saved as is. If VerseCove still cannot get the image under 90 KB after resizing and Tinify, try a simpler image with less detail. Also make sure the image is not a copied logo, album cover, or protected brand image.
24. Why does a fan or follow action show an error?
Common reasons include not being logged in, not verifying your email yet, trying to follow yourself, already being a fan, or following too quickly. The Help Center fan error guide explains these messages.
25. Why do I see a cooldown before following again?
Cooldowns help stop spam and fake engagement. If you unfollow an artist, you may need to wait before following that same artist again.
26. Who should I contact if something still looks wrong?
Use the Contact page and include your account email, artist name, song title, and a clear description of the problem.
