Producer Jermaine Dupri says artists should collectively decide what Spotify’s planned AI remix service pays and which songs fans may transform.
Spotify’s existing licensing announcements say participation will be voluntary and that original artists, rightsholders and songwriters will share in revenue from authorized fan remixes. However, no announced deal publishes the royalty rate, revenue split or a mechanism for artists to set the add-on’s price.
Dupri’s argument is an artist-advocacy position, not an announced Spotify policy. Spotify has also not confirmed the reported first-quarter 2027 launch or the proposed additional price of $4 to $5 per month.
Can artists currently set Spotify’s AI remix price? Not under anything publicly announced. Their confirmed control is whether to participate through an opted-in rightsholder.
