Spotify reportedly aims to launch an AI-powered remix and cover service during the first quarter of 2027, potentially charging Premium subscribers an additional $4 to $5 per month.

The proposed tool would let listeners transform participating songs into new styles or create authorized cover-like versions. The report says royalties from fan-made versions would flow to original artists and rightsholders, while plays could count toward the original recordings in Spotify’s charts.

Spotify already has agreements connected to the project with Universal Music Group, Merlin and Believe, but negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music were still underway. The launch timing, price and final feature set have not been announced by Spotify and may change.

Will every artist’s music be available for AI remixing? No. Existing partnership details describe voluntary participation, making artist consent and label licensing central to the proposed service.
