Source: InterSpace Music — YouTube Music AI Disclosure Has Three Answers; an Empty Field Is Unknown
YouTube music partners can declare a recording fully generated by AI, partly generated by AI or made without generative AI; an empty field is treated as unknown unless YouTube classifies the content through other signals.
The declarations can travel through DDEX ERN 4.3.2 or newer, YouTube CSV delivery templates, or the AI-use controls in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s official examples classify a fully prompted song as “Fully Gen AI,” a hybrid song with generated layers and live performances as “Partly Gen AI,” and conventional pitch correction or automated mastering as “No Gen AI.”
For creators delivering through a distributor, the important step happens before release: document which lyrics, composition, performances, voices and visuals were generated. That production record makes the metadata decision easier and reduces inconsistent disclosures across partners.
Does leaving the AI field blank mean “No AI”? No. YouTube treats the missing value as unknown and may use its own signals to apply a classification.
